1945 Château Haut-Brion: A dark red colour with a orange rim; with a bouquet that is rich, slightly musty and predominantly characterised by sweet pipe tobacco and cassis. On the palate lots of blackcurrant with wood notes, which include hints of cedarbox and touches of mahogany; the fruit is fading but the acidity is balancing it still perfectly, with a finish of 50 seconds. Past the peak but still an excellent wine. April 2019. 4.25/5
