2016 Casa Castillo Pie Franco Viña Viejas fromJumilla in the Murcia region in  Spain, Monastrell (Mourvèdre) grape:  a bright cherry colour that is  medium dark; 

on the nose half-ripe cherries, orange peel, fruity Haribos and ripe plums;

on the palate cherries and ripe plums again, on a base of  licorice with an underlying dusty tannic dryness, which   counterbalanced by a nice restrained fruity woodsy sweetness with a slightly mineral finish of 80 seconds.  A balanced and rich red wine.  Drink - 2028.  April 2021.  3.75/5
