2013 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Domaine Ponsot Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, made from 100% Pinot Noir. It had funny plastic cork, like one that some cheap £5 wines
use: The colour was a rich ruby red, with a bouquet of cherries, blackberries, and, at times, rich and ripe strawberries also. This was developing into a rich intense and paradigmatic
bouquet of a great Burgundy. In the mouth there were cherries again, blackberries, prunes, dark red fruit, dried herbs, and a discreet acid structure. The fruit becomes stronger with
time and oxygen, but is never really rich and deep after the first moments. This wine is elegant, but with an austere acidity that is always present and a bit too dominant. The finish
lasted for 30 seconds. Drink until 2029.
3.5/5 - with a sensational bouquet though.
