Giaconda is a family-run business producing about 2000-3000 cases per year. It teamed up with Chapoutier to produce Ergo sum.
2011 Ergo Sum Shiraz Beechworth near close to the Victorian Alps: Dark purple colour, with a dense Shiraz bouquet; on the palate a nice cherry fruit with violet; not that jammy but quite peppery with a strong acidic slant, and a strong tannic undertone. The finish is 40s long. It is rather austere; with the tannins in danger of overwhelming the fruit. Will it come around eventually? It's hard to say. Drink 2021-2028; it benefits from decanting at least 1 hour before serving. 3.25/5
