2008 Craggy Range "Le Sol" Syrah Gimblett Gravels Hawkes Bay New Zealand 100 Syrah (Shiraz): a rich and dark ruby colour, with the bouquet displaying a somewhat bland fruit note only.  In the mouth one could enjoy the rich fruit with cherries and blackberries, as well as a touch of pepper; the fruit is ripe and in the foreground ; it is smooth, rich and beautifully rounded, but lacking a bit of depth and texture at times.  This is nicely balanced and unlike some of the  overwhelming Australian overwhelming kick-in-your-face Shirazes.  The finish lasted 40 seconds. It was served undecanted and probably does not need decanting.  Drink -until 2027.  3.75/5
