2011 Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole, i.e. sole owner, in Vosne-Romanée (Cote de Nuits); the vineyard is positioned between La Tâche on one side, and Romanée-Conti and Romanée-Saint-Vivant on the other side.
Bottle No. 02250: a rich and deep garnet colour, with a bouquet of blackberries and cherries with some wood too. On the palate there were lots of blackberries
with ripe cherries, with the tannins, that were too dominant initially, softening with time in the glass; eventually the fruits come out nicely.
Later on it developed a peppery note, with forest mushrooms and moist garden soil; we got a finish of 40 seconds. Still a Burgundy of a good presence, but
possibly close to passing the peak. Drink now or soon. 3.5/5
